According to OpenAI, the Ultrafast mode operates at 14x the speed of standard processing, delivering up to 750 output tokens per second. "Until now, getting real-time speed typically meant choosing a smaller or more specialized model," OpenAI noted in its announcement. Currently in a preview phase, Ultrafast is powered by OpenAI's strategic partnership with chip manufacturer Cerebras. The preview is limited to a select group of enterprise customers, with plans to expand access as infrastructure capacity scales.
