WeatherNext 2 (WN2) is a state-of-the-art global, medium-range atmospheric and cyclone forecasting model developed by Google DeepMind and Google Research. Building upon its predecessors, GraphCast and GenCast, WN2 produces highly accurate predictions. Operating at a 0.25-degree resolution, it integrates seamlessly with operational ECMWF HRES initial conditions and offers native 100m wind speed predictions alongside advanced tropical cyclone tracking capabilities. Optimized for TPU/GPU architectures using JAX, WN2 provides a powerful open-source framework for meteorological research.
